There was a season of my life when I quietly convinced myself that I was meant to walk alone.

Not because I truly wanted to—but because it felt safer that way.

Distance became my disguise for strength.
Silence became my way of staying in control.

I surrounded myself with people, yet remained unseen—
careful not to let anyone come too close,
afraid not only of being hurt…
but of becoming the reason someone else might hurt too.

So I called my isolation “peace,”
and my detachment “self-protection.”
I told myself I didn’t belong anywhere—
as if that lie could somehow make the loneliness easier to carry.

But time has a way of revealing what we try so hard to hide.

And slowly, truth found its way through the cracks:

It was never love I was afraid of.
It was the possibility of being left behind.

Abandonment has a quiet voice—
it doesn’t always scream, it whispers.
It convinces you to build walls so high and so strong
that even the most genuine love struggles to reach you.

And then, in a moment that wasn’t loud or dramatic—
just still and undeniable—
something shifted within me.

I realized I had been loved all along.

Not by a love that comes and goes,
not by a love that depends on conditions,
but by a love that existed before I ever questioned my worth.

I was loved first by God.

A love that does not abandon.
A love that does not break under pressure.
A love that does not walk away when I am difficult to understand.

And in that realization, something in me softened—
not weakness, but surrender.

I began to understand that not everyone is meant to stay,
and not everyone is meant to understand me fully.
And that’s okay.

Because my worth is no longer tied
to who chooses to remain in my life.

I am already chosen.

Now, I measure my life differently—
not by validation, but by intention.
Not by acceptance, but by authenticity.
Not by attachment, but by peace.

I guard my heart, not by closing it—
but by anchoring it in truth.

And so, I choose peace.
I choose joy, even in uncertainty.

And even if the world turns unfamiliar,
even if people come and go like passing seasons—
I remain unshaken.

Because I no longer walk this life trying to be chosen.

I walk it knowing I already am.

And in that knowing,
I am never alone.

God is with me. 🙏❤️

I Was Never Alone After All
