Is anyone idea about splurging on live tickets for Olympic qualifiers?
So I was watching replays of Paris 2024 qualifiers with my brother last weekend and it hit me that I’ve never actually seen any Olympic-level event live, only on TV/streams.
Now I’m looking at 2026 and trying to plan ahead a bit. I found a bunch of sites selling tickets for big events (NHL games, concerts like Bruno Mars/Shakira, etc.) and some of them also list Olympic qualifiers and major international tournaments. One of the places I checked had stuff filtered by date/location, kind of like seatpin.com
and similar sites, and suddenly I’m 10 tabs deep wondering if I’m about to waste a ton of money or create a core memory.
For those of you who’ve gone to Olympic qualifiers, test events, or even big World Cups/World Championships - was it actually worth the cost/hassle compared to just watching at home? Any tips on what kind of seats to pick, when to buy, or specific events that are extra special live?
Also, how do you avoid getting scammed with resale tickets for this kind of thing?
