What was the most ludicrous gossip you heard about yourself?

I hope I have the right subreddit for this.

I (56F) have lived on the same street in the same town for 30+ years. My ex husband has lived here all his life and is well known because he is a teacher at the local secondary school. We have 2 adult children. When we divorced over 20 years ago we shared custody 50/50%. Our youngest child still lives at home.

About 5 years ago a family from out of town moved to our street. They had some problems (mainly health issues) in the first years and I helped them out a few times. You know, drive them to some appointments, lend garden tools, doing the neighbourly thing. We got to know quite them pretty well. Then that neighbour started a feud with some other neighbours and tried to make us choose his side. When we told them we rather not get involved in that sordid business they became quite hostile. The neighbours broke off all contact with us. Fine, nobody is obliged to interact with us if they do not want that. But when contact was still good, we learnt some very personal things about them and perhaps the neighbour was afraid we would spread rumours? He became a bit paranoid and preemptively painted us as terrible liars who were not to be trusted.

The neighbour would sometimes send messages to me out of the blue (so much for no contact I guess) with wild accusations. Friends would tell me these same rumours so I knew he spread them. The most absurd one was: my ex husband did not loose a limb due to cancer but because he'd had a motorcycle accident; and our youngest child was definitely not his.

So, what was the most ludicrous gossip you heard about yourself?
