Does Lavistodes work without Trajann?

I don’t have Trajann yet, but I have the other two core characters, Kariyan and Laviscus. I also have Aesoth, Boss G and Vitruvius, and looking into it a little bit, it seems I could get a viable team going while I’m waiting to unlock Trajann.

Anyone has experience running Lavistodes variants without Trajann? How did that go for you?
