Randy Moss Best Bets Summary

Below is a summary of what Randy discussed on today’s pod for this weekend's horse races. Good luck this weekend!

Friday Night Kentucky Oaks:

Randy really likes Always a Runner (10-1) and Prom Queen (8-1) as an Exacta. You can also box it (covering both combinations too). Zany (4-1) is a very beatable favorite.

Dave’s horse (Lovely Grey 30-1) has a chance like any other horse.

Saturday:

Kentucky Derby: It’s very wide open. Info on the 7 horses with the best odds:

  • Chief Wallabee: 8-1 RANDY’S PICK. Not a lot of confidence because the race is pretty wide open. 3^(rd) place in the Florida Derby. Big Cat says he can’t win the big one. Bill Mott is a great trainer and is running him in blinkers. Randy liked him early at 13-1 but he’s now down to 8-1.
  • Renegade: 4-1 (Betting Favorite) Irad Ortiz Jr. chose to be the jockey over Commandment and Further Ado. Horse has a cracked hoof (but that is not uncommon). It’s been 40 years since a horse won from the #1 post position.
  • Further Ado: 6-1 Horse with the Younghoe Koo missed FG brain tumor story.  Won the Blue Grass Stakes by 11 lengths. Smaller horse. Jerry Bailey’s pick (retired jockey now analyst).
  • Emerging Market: 15-1 Flavien Prat chose to be jockey
  • Commandment: 6-1 Winner of the Florida Derby (equal to the Big 10 champion)
  • The Puma: 10-1 If you like Commandment, you’ll like The Puma but with a better payout. 2^(nd) place in the Florida Derby
  • So Happy: 15-1 Won the Santa Anita Derby. Jockey Mike Smith is 59 years old but is in great shape.

Long shot he likes to add into a super or trifecta is “Golden Tempo” (30-1) finished 2^(nd) in Louisiana Derby. Will come from the back of the pack.

Randy doesn’t like either of the Japanese horses (Wonder Dean (30-1) & Danan Bourbon (20-1) compared to Forever Young in 2024. A Japanese horse will win in the next decade.

Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (Race 7 - 2:38pm): Wide open race. Randy like’s Bill Mott’s “Temptable” will be ~8-1.

* Odds are as of Friday morning
