Any other animes supposed to make you cry?

What to Watch?

So far, I haven't really watched much anime supposed to make you cry. The first series I watched with this kind if thing was Your Lie in April, and I think it was pretty good, though I cannot say A-Tier or S-Tier; the humor is pretty poorly executed, and the toxic behavior can drag too much. I didn't cry (I mean, I cry towards my own personal life situations if I go through too much), but I did feel pretty sad by the ending. The first Opening song is unforgettable though, and probably one of my favorite anime songs too.

My high school classmate (Nicole) suggested Anohana, and I think it was pretty decent and touching enough; the only bad things are that there are two characters I hate (and I think you'd know who I'm talking about).

As far as movies go, I did watch the 1975 anime adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, and that movie was just pleasant, and I do actually prefer this over the Disney movie. The "Matteita Hito" song deserves just as much love as "Part of Your World".

The second supposedly tearjerking movie I watched was 5 Centimeters Per Second, and I actually saw the poster many years and actually thought it was a pretty nostalgic-looking piece of art, but I honestly wasn't happy with the movie and found it just mid. To be honest, I'm not really a big fan of Makoto Shinkai as a director as the scripts and story structures are always too identical, and I wouldn't say he's the best at doing endings. I'd say his best work was Your Name, but even then, the ending could have been cuter and more emotional to me. Suzume... Hmm... Well, this movie I found pretty subpar to be honest, but I won't write my review here in the post's body.

About 5 Centimeters Per Second, aside from uneven pacing (with the first portion being way too fast with choppy scene switching) and unfocused character screen time, the real problem is that the way it handled its realistic story was to a fault. I mean, the ending concept was actually pretty creative, but it was very detached in how it was executed, and I would have actually added more creativity to it while keeping the point. I feel like it's kind of like the 1986 Transformers movie where it never really executed its supposedly emotional moments in digestible ways.

Nicole said the manga was better, and I did read it, and yeah, it did have more character development and the ending was refined slightly (though still not quite there); it almost felt like expanded media or something, like Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the IDW Movie Comics for Transformers (specifically the Bayverse).

I don't know, do any of you know any other anime supposed to make you sad or even cry?
