When the new villainous options dropped from unearthed arcana I was immediately inspired by the pestilence domain cleric. My mind immediately went to Talona, the Lady of poison. There had been a previous thread I read about how they were basically a religious/evil version of the Center for Disease Control. While Talona and the Talontar are almost certainly played or portrayed as evil, I love the more neutral aspects of their tenants ie life and death are cyclic and necessary, or their scholarly/medical pursuits of diseases. With this character I toyed with the idea of a 'pox moon', marked by a green glow and eclipse, along with an acceleration of sickness and disease, where even minor infections can become lethal.

Abigalle Zan was born beneath the first of such a pox moon. From her first breath sickness followed in subtle and unexplainable ways. Abandoned and taken in by a secret sect of Talona - she was taught not to fear disease but to understand it as a quiet reminder that decay is a part of all living things. Calm and almost tender in demeanor, Abigale moves through the world as both priestess and catalyst, her presence drawing out hidden rot and her touch transforming bodies into vessels of her goddess's will.

I had a lot of fun rendering the gold in this piece and learned a lot about it in the process. I tried to keep things loose but over rendering once again got the better of me but the good news this time is I kept the extras to a minimum (seeing as this is still a beginner character we didn't need to give her funky clothes or accessories - besides all Talontar/clerics just wear ragged robes anyways).

All paint strokes are my own :)
