My Lyric Challenge

It's time for a Lyric Challenge! Name this haunting, simple piano riff; a melancholic atmosphere and a steady 4/4 bass drum, a "dream trance" classic that defined the mid-90s melodic dance sound; designed to evoke emotion rather than just dance floor energy. Based on the blurb and quote of the song below, name the song and the artist. (BONUS POINTS if you can tell me why this song was created?) Please leave a comment or guess so that I know who plays.(Here's a tip: I design the bonus questions to offer others to find out more facts about the song and the artist(s),...its not cheating, just enjoy the search.)

This song was officially released by this Italian producer as a single on November 13, 1995. It was later featured on his debut studio album, "Dreamland", which was released in 1996. There were earlier versions that were done previously that year. The track was famously inspired by photographs of war-torn Yugoslavia, with Miles aiming to create a calming, peaceful piece. This song was created to combat "Saturday night slaughter" (fatal car crashes) in Italy by calming rave attendees with a slow, melodic piano tune. Inspired by Bosnian war children and rave safety, the track became a global top-10 hit that pioneered a new melodic sound in dance music. He saw photos of children injured in the Bosnian war brought home by his father from a humanitarian mission. The track was designed to end DJ sets by slowing down the pace, helping dancers calm down before driving home to prevent fatal, early-morning accidents dubbed "stragi del sabato sera" (Saturday night slaughter). It created a shift from heavy rave music to melodic downtempo to ensure dancer safety. It successfully forced many DJs to stop playing hard, fast techno at the very end of their sets. The track centers on innocence, melancholy, nostalgia, and the desire to calm and protect. There are two distinct, well known music videos for the song. The full length version opens with the sound of a thunderstorm.

"If all the children of the world

Would hold each other's hands

They'll be giving off such a strength

That all the walls of hate, war,

And racism will fall down

Children know, understand, and believe

That there'll be more and more

Love and peace, for eternity,

Love and peace, for everybody"
