Lily stood in front of the dorm room, her suitcase in hand, the hallway stretching out before her like a long, unfamiliar path. The walls were a dull beige, the floor polished to a shiny, almost sterile finish. The faint smell of cleaning supplies hung in the air, and the fluorescent lights buzzed overhead. She took a deep breath, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. This was it, the beginning of her college life. She had imagined this moment for months, and yet, now that she was here, everything felt... bigger, more overwhelming than she'd expected.

She had always pictured herself in a single room, her own little sanctuary away from home, where she could unpack and adjust at her own pace.

With a final, steadying breath, Lily pushed the door open. The room was small but cozy, with mismatched furniture and scattered belongings. But what caught her attention immediately wasn’t the room, it was the girl sitting on the bed, scrolling through her phone.

“Hi!” the girl said brightly, looking up with a wide smile. “Are you my roommate?”
