The AI takeover of the jobs would be less horrifying if self-sufficiency and DIY were the norm and the system wasn't designed to keep you in debt
Although I'm an anti, as I'm opposed to AI which is used beyond medical and logistical purposes, I cannot stop thinking about the fact that the heavy reliance on services and the impoverishment through taxes and high cost of living are far worse than robots taking over our creative jobs.
If it was the norm being self-sufficient by growing your own food, and do DIY stuff like fixing things and handcrafting, and no one is crushed by renting, bills and pointless taxes, people would be more excited over AI automation, especially if it is open-source, and the whole AI debate would be limited to philosophical and ethical debates.
Don't get me wrong, I know very well that self-sufficiency and DIY isn't for everyone, due to how hard it is and that some people don't have enough time for it. But as new technologies come out, such as growing plants without the need for large and open fields of soil, and that there are new machines that allow to do stuff on your own with little to no effort, such as 3d-Knitting, I think that we will likely have that future.
