respectfully i don't get why streamers hide relationships so hard
genuinely been thinking about this and the whole "hide the relationship until it leaks anyway" strategy doesn't actually seem to protect anyone. normal celebrities don't do this. taylor swift doesn't do this. even smaller celebs who get way more hate than streamers don't try this hard to keep it secret so why do streamers act like their situation is uniquely fragile
and it always leaks anyway. this community is way too good at connecting dots. so instead of the streamer controlling how it comes out, some thread does it for them and now the partner is getting doxxed and the whole thing looks way more suspicious than it needed to
the sykkuno situation is kind of an extreme example but it does prove the point. keeping the relationship hidden didn't protect anyone, it actually gave him cover to do more damage for longer because nobody even knew there was a girlfriend to begin with
also if the internet is gonna be weird about who you're dating i'd rather know that early. if my partner is gonna get hate threads and people digging through their socials that's information that affects the real relationship. better to find out now than two years in
poki is probably the clearest non-extreme example. kept things private so long that her audience got way more attached than they would have otherwise and when anything relationship-adjacent leaked people lost it completely. the secrecy made the reaction bigger not smaller
i get that nobody owes chat their personal life but theres a difference between being private and actively hiding something in a way that just feeds more speculation over time
what do you guys think
