aitah for telling my billie eilish obsessed friend that she’ll probably never date a woman
hey so basically i (24f) am bisexual. my friend (24f) is also bisexual but doesn’t really date women that much and she’s also a huge billie eilish fan. like so much that she knows like everything about her and yaps to me about her constantly. i don’t really care about her yapping bc it doesn’t bother me and she’s happy and whatever but it’s when she moans about the fact that billie eilish has a boyfriend and how she needs to be with a woman that kind of irks me a little bit.
it bothers me for a couple reasons. one being that it’s kind of parasocial and i can’t lie i just find parasocialness weird in general. and the other reason being that it’s just plain delusion. i’m a bisexual woman that actively dates and sleeps with women and i’ve been with way more women than i have men, and i don’t know if any other bi women feel the same way but as a bi woman that has been with women, you can kind of just tell when another bi woman hasn’t been with any women before. idk how to explain it but they usually talk the talk more to cover up or make up for the fact that they’ve never seen another woman naked and usually there’s just no passion there. i was also like that until i had my first girlfriend.
anyway i don’t even think this is a massive deal but yesterday my friend was going on her usual rant about it because we were just chilling in my house scrolling tiktok and a billie eilish video came up with her doing an interview with some magician woman and there was flirting and stuff and she started ranting about her being flirty with women but still having a boyfriend and how she wishes she would realise she needs a girlfriend and i straight up just told her that it’s all performative and she’s most likely never been with a woman and probably never will, at least publicly. she said “yeah but shes bi she still likes women” and i said that im not denying that, but bi women rarely end up dating women and that’s just how it is.
that’s the truth, and this is coming from a bi woman. there’s nothing wrong with bi women dating or ending up with men that’s just a fact that most of them will end up with men and date mostly men, especially famous ones like i can probably name less than 5 famous bisexual ladies that actually ended up with women.
well it annoyed her and i think because she thinks im also judging her for not dating women which i told her i wasn’t, and then she told me to stop being biphobic and i was like ??? genuinely confused by that but okay.
anyway sorry if this is boring or ridiculous but can someone pls tell me if i was being biphobic or rude in what i said. thanks :)
