Don't feel obligated to help people.
I had an IRL friend who's a Navy veteran. He's 25 years older than me. He got out of the Navy almost 40 years ago. He seemed to have zero knowledge about VA disability benefits. He asked me directly what disability he should file a claim for. I told him anxiety. I explained how the VA claim process works, how the process goes, & what to expect. He told me that he was awarded 70% for anxiety.
I congratulated him. He told me thank you. That was pretty much it. I don't think he owes me anything obviously. I gave him advice & knowledge that led to him to being able to fully retire, & he wasn't really that grateful. I realized that I'm not obligated to help another veteran with VA benefits again. Almost everything you need to know about VA disability is available online if you search for it.
