I’m scared my OCD is going to ruin my relationship
To sum it up I am in a very healthy relationship, the first ever and it will be long distance for some time but not long. I’m 27. I find myself obsessing way too much over things he says and fixating on it. If there is the slightest change in his tone, his mood, the effort, my brain immediately screams DANGER SOMETHING IS WRONG. Then I will try and get some sort of reassurance.
I do have a great job, hobbies and friends but I find myself not wanting to do other stuff besides talking to him on the phone which isn’t healthy! I feel like I have to force myself to do other things that aren’t involving him as I want to maintain the closeness or in my head, it won’t work. I constantly think what if he distances from me, what if he gets sick of my neediness, what if he leaves me, what if he finds someone else, what if he falls out of love with me.
To give examples, if he is okay with not speaking to me for some time because I have made plans with friends.. DANGER. If our calls are shorter sometimes… DANGER. If he is in a mood/tired… DANGER. If hasn’t sent me flowers and it’s been some time… DANGER. If we haven’t had phone intimacy in a while… DANGER.
P.s. I do know that this is unhealthy and I’m sick to death of obsessing over every little thing when truthfully he is a good guy from what he’s shown me and the thoughts consume me. I want this to work and I don’t want to drive him away.
