I finally got away for good!

I (26 F) spent the past nearly 3 years of my life with a man I believe is a narcissist (24 M) and possibly even has antisocial personality disorder. (He recently failed a psych evaluation during the hiring process with a fire department for “showing antisocial tendencies and having problems in relationships.”) He was absolutely perfect in the beginning. He was everything I ever wanted and he maintained that until about 6 months in when he lost his job, lost his cool, and admitted that everything I knew about him was a lie. He somehow managed to convince me that his freak out was completely out of character and due to how worried he was to lose me and then we entered into the narcissistic abuse cycle for the next 2.5 years.
We had a baby together (planned) and the verbal and emotional abuse got to a horrific point during my pregnancy. I was so depressed, lonely, and beat down that it brought me to God. He then spent the next year using that against me, claiming to have come to God as well and using my desire to have a traditional Christian household to keep me stuck. He convinced me that I was crazy every time he did anything suspicious, convinced me that my mom was miserable and insane when she saw right through him, and damaged my nervous system to the point that I don’t even know how to begin to repair it.
I stayed with him in hopes that he would finally be the partner, man, and father that I thought he had the potential to be. He knew how to say all of the right things. He seemed to be greatly improving on his anger and emotional abuse. He got a good job and a home for our family. Once we moved in, I found out he had been cheating on me. He is a pathological liar so I have absolutely no idea how many women he cheated on me with, the extent of it, or the duration, but I suspect that it was many women throughout my entire pregnancy and postpartum. While he was making declarations of love, getting our family home prepared for us, praying with me, and looking into mine and our infant’s eyes and telling us we were his whole world, he was cheating.
I promptly left. He sobbed and begged and minimized the cheating and promised to do absolutely anything if I stayed and I said no. He then went silent and tried to move onto one of the women he was cheating with (who apparently had no idea about me or our daughter) just 2 days after I left. I reached out to his ex of 2 years who confirmed that she went through everything I did, but even worse. All of the lying, serial cheating, fits of rage and violence, and reeling his victim back in has been a long standing pattern.
If you are with someone you believe is a narcissist, run. Run fast and do not look back. If you don’t think they’re cheating because you have access to their phone and location, I can almost guarantee they are finding a way. If you think they’re capable of change, they are not. I am honestly just incredibly grateful that I got out when I did. I have absolutely no idea who the person I spent the past 3 years with is or what he is capable of. His ex went through terrifying situations with him that I hadn’t been exposed to yet. The important thing is that my baby and I are free, far away, and I will do anything it takes to protect us from him.
