To those who have been to a wedding where someone objected, what happened afterwards and with that relationship?

Who was it that objected and why? Did the person who objected just get ostracized or kicked out of the wedding entirely? I’d assume it would severely damage relationship. But also, what happened with the marriage like was the person who objected proven right and the relationship didn’t last?
