Tips for incorporating complex patterns/vibrant colors into a ren faire look?

I want to use/incorporate african fabric patterns to wear for the faire, but I'm struggling to do so in a way that still feels like I've put together a ren faire ensemble. Does anyone have tips for incorporating vibrant and/or detailed fabric patterns?
