Linking Steam question

I own the following versions:

• Frontier Store: E:D + Horizons
• Steam: E:D Deluxe Edition (has Odyssey)

I have many hours on the Frontier store but never played on the Steam version. It was on super sale last year some time and grabbed it.

If from frontierstore.net I go to Linked Thirdparty Accounts and link my Steam account, will I just be able to load the steam version for the first time and it'll just have my account and character show up?

Also, does it matter that I own Odyssey only on steam?

Thanks
