I miss out on technology, and I always end up being glad I did.
I'm not against technology, I enjoy it. I build my own PCs, I have a smartphone, I'm very interested in high-tech stuff.
But I don't engage for a very long time. I didn't have a cell phone for years when all my friends did. I don't have an alexa, I don't have a wireless doorbell camera, I don't have a new car with all the crazy bells and whistles, I don't use AI.
Most of the reason for this is I'm just not that interested. I have my hobbies, I'm not out there looking for new things to buy. I can buy things just fine without alexa, and I can turn my lights on and off by hand. I don't need lane keeping assist or blind spot monitoring because I am in the habit of constantly paying attention and I always check my blind spot twice.
So it usually ends up that people have been using new technology for years when I haven't even encountered it, and there are a great many cases where I managed to dodge a bullet by not jumping on the bandwagon.
I'm going to continue not rushing to adopt the latest fad, and I bet I'll end up being just fine without it.
