Any advice on offshore work?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the profession, I've studied engineering and recently got a job offer working on a vessel in the north sea as a safety engineer at a large company. It's 5 weeks on/5 weeks off.
What does your typical day to day look like? How do you cope being away from family for so long? Is it easy to perhaps transfer into an onshore role after working for 2 years?
