Ochre jelly

I’m running a one shot today and am seeing conflicting information in the monster manual description of an Ochre Jelly. The MM shows that it is immune to lightning and slashing (in addition to other kinds of damage) but then there’s the special conditions that make the jelly split. Does that mean that lightning and slashing cause it to split but don’t do any damage?
