can you have multiple islands on separate switches on one virtual game card or will switching the game cards delete/corrupt your original island?

I have a switch 1 lite, and my brother has a switch 2. I started my island on his switch 2 because I wanted a bigger touch screen for drawing stuff, but he keeps taking his switch with him places and sometimes I want to play the game while he’s gone/using it, and I’m wondering if I can still start a new file on my switch lite without corrupting/losing my island I’ve worked hard on on his switch 2? if I swap the virtual game card over to my switch 1, will it erase or corrupt my island on the switch 2? i’m fine with starting a different island on my switch 1, I just don’t want the switch 2 one to get erased or messed up.
