Orchid help with molding roots

So I bought 3 phal orchids. They are indoor, in New Jersey, at a temp of 70 degrees inside.

They weren't in a great medium so I immediately repotted them into orchid bark and in orchid slotted pots.

They started doing poorly and the roots were always dry.

I read to add moss so I added moss to the mix. Now the roots are molding.

I reached out to Quarter Acre Orchids and they said that moss is bad for phals.

They told me not to use the slotted pots, either.

To just use orchid bark in a pot with holes on the bottom.

I wanted to know what other people think, if that is a good plan.

Also, how do I get rid of the mold?
