Massive water leak a few days after plumber ran the shower/tub at full pressure... did the plumber mess up?
I'm a tenant and landlord hired this plumber who we have concerns about.. would value a second opinion from other experts.
Background: Our bldg super noticed a slow drip leak on the shower lever of our guest bathroom. Landlord hired a plumber (that the super recommended ironically). Plumber came thinking it was a tub faucet leak and didn't have the proper equipment (borescope) to look behind the shower board, and instead ran the shower and tub faucet at full pressure for ~30 mins. We *never* use this shower. And the plumber suddenly runs full pressure water for an extended period..
Two to three days later, we have a massive water leak, water started seeping thru the hallway wood flooring and buckled the flooring completely. Bldg super identified the leak as coming from behind the guestroom shower board and shut off the water after an hour or so.
Is it reasonable to assume that what the plumber did in his "inspection" caused the massive water leak?
Landlord wants to hire this plumber / contractor to fix the wood flooring but I don't really trust this guy to do a thorough job, given above.
Also the wood flooring that buckled a few inches, has been left to dry on its own for months. Bit worried about mold / mildew but landlord insists they used a mold resistant wood panel.. is that sufficient?
What should I expect the contractor to fix? Just taking out the wood flooring and replacing it with a new one? OR should I ask something more to be done ?
