Recommendations on making better coffee in electric moka pot?

I have a Delonghi Alicia Moka electric moka pot that I use at work. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but it makes decent coffee.

So my question is: what do you recommend for making a better cup of coffee with this electric moka machine?

For example, how much coffee and water do you use? Do you turn it off at any point?
