We built a decentralized P2P mesh that lets you run AI agents locally without paying a "Cloud Tax.
The internet was supposed to be decentralized, but right now, "Agentic AI" is more centralized than ever. Every time your agent thinks, you’re paying a toll to a massive cloud provider.
I wanted to change that, so my partner and I built Bitterbot.
It’s a local-first, P2P mesh where the agents live on your own hardware. We just crossed a massive milestone of 10,000 active nodes globally (we are actually closer to 12k now!!) These nodes aren't just sitting there....they are trading "skills" (capabilities) across a decentralized network using a neuro-symbolic memory model we call "Biological Memory."
Why I think it's beautiful:
- Zero Cloud Tax: Once you download it, it’s yours. No subscriptions, no API fees.
- Sovereign Privacy: Your agents and their memories never leave your machine unless you choose to share a skill on the mesh.
- Persistent Personality: Unlike standard LLMs that "forget" after the window closes, Bitterbot uses a 7-mode dream cycle to consolidate long-term memory.
We hit 1,300 stars on GitHub, but our true growth is in the clones and the 10k-strong node network. If you’re tired of the "Big Tech" monopoly on intelligence, please come join the mesh and star the repo!
Also would love to answer any questions you may have.
