Risking your life for an unrelated organism is a failure of basic logic in a godless universe

I Like / Dislike

Helping a stranger in a high-risk situation is a biological error. In a purely materialist universe, your only directive is to protect your own genetic hardware. Risking your life for an unrelated organism is a glitch in the code that the bystander effect exists to correct. When you see a crowd watching an assault without moving, you’re looking at a group of highly efficient biological machines all running the "not my problem" script simultaneously. The tribe survived for millions of years because our ancestors were the ones who stayed hidden in the bushes while the "heroes" got eaten alive.
