FSD driving into oncoming traffic/ghost braking
Earlier this week I took a road trip with my tesla where I purchased FSD for the second and decided to try it. The last time I had tried it, it went into oncoming traffic in a construction zone which I could understand because it was during a turn and it was going very slowly so it was an easy fix but this time I bought it, i’m genuinely scared. It did fine on the highways and after merging off to try to get to a charger was a two lane road and then at the next light the left lane was turn only aka the lane I was in and the right kept going straight. I saw this but my car just kept going and would’ve ended up in oncoming traffic and smashed into the car across from me going 45 mph if I didn’t disengage. Another time I merged off the highway (texas u turn) and during the u-turn my car slammed the brakes and then came to a complete stop. If someone was behind me I would’ve gotten rear ended. I was pretty shaken after both of these things and had to pull off and stop driving for a bit. it’s really hard to prevent accidents when you have a few seconds to prevent your car from driving itself into oncoming traffic. is there a way to fix this? I know hw3 isn’t as advanced and I understand that but this seems really dangerous especially since in certain situations the time to react and disengage the car is merely seconds and you’re never expecting your car to go into oncoming traffic at 45 mph. and I also get FSD isn’t perfect and it’s not unsupervised and these are things you need to be watching out for but i’m like scared to let it drive itself on regular roads cause it was really frightening 😭
