Foxhole’s tutorial isn’t just lacking — it actively pushes new players away

Discussion

I really want to like this game, but the tutorial is honestly one of the worst onboarding experiences I’ve seen for something this complex.

It’s not just “basic” it teaches the wrong things. You learn how to move, shoot, and swing a hammer, but none of that prepares you for what the game actually is: logistics, supply chains, coordination, and teamwork.

Then you get dropped into the real war and you don’t know what you’re supposed to do And every time this comes up, the answer is: “just ask in chat” or “watch guides.” That’s the problem.

If a game needs players to rely on other players or external guides just to understand the basics, that’s a failure on the dev side. Community help should be a bonus, not the foundation of learning the game. A lot of people will just quit instead.

I’m not asking for the game to be dumbed down. The depth is great. But there’s a massive gap between “here are the controls” and “you can actually contribute,” and the game does nothing to bridge tha
