Is Diablo IV the Best Diablo Right Now? Or Recommend Better Diablo-Likes

After having a couple of anxiety-driven days, I'm craving a little to play something in a dark fantasy setting with lots of mindless grinding, looting, number go upping, etc. I was kind of saving that spot to return to FFXIV, but I'm putting it off just a little longer.

I got D4 on launch via battle.net, had a decent time with it but shelved it before any expansions came out. With the latest one getting great reviews, I'm wondering if I should make this and the expansion my comfort game.

Does the expansion itself have QoL/features that feed into the base game? Think I read there were new classes, but beyond that what other improvements have been made? Do I need to get the previous expansion or just dive into this one?

Also for the life of me I don't know why it has Playstation icons for the DS4 and not the DS5. But whatever.
