My new therapist pointed out that my trauma affects me more than the autism does and I don't know how to feel
Pretty much what the title says. I can wrap my head around everything being because of the autism. But for it to be a result of trauma instead? I just.....don't know what to do with that information. I don't like that information. I don't want to accept that answer. It feels easier to think "oh, i don't communicate well because i'm autistic" than to accept the therapists answer of "you dont communicate well because you were the scapegoat and standing up for yourself resulted in getting hurt." I like the autism option better but I can't explain why. And the therapist is connecting my inability to accept a lot of affection from my husband the same way. That i'm so used to people putting their hands on me in a negative way that I have a hard time processing positive touch even 3 years into our relationship. I don't look at myself in the mirror and I say that I don't like looking anyone in the face, even myself, and that it's the autism. But when my therapist asked me to describe how I feel about my looks, she has summed up that I have such a negative view of myself that I deny to look at myself.
.
I don't want to accept trauma as an answer. I don't want to believe i'm traumatized at all. Other people have it much worse, and i'm dealing with everything perfectly fine, in my opinion.

I don't hate being autistic. I simply exist being autistic. It comes with its benefits and it comes with its problems. It's just there. And it seems more simple to say that it's all because of the autism
