What do you do for a living?

Sharing Thread

So, what does everyone here do for a living?

I started out in the film industry wanting to help people create, but the industry was so full of toxicity and abuse that I had to give up.

I currently have a job at a DOD software company doing project coordination. It's actually pretty great, not toxic, and I get to work from home. I have been there for several years, but I am starting to get that pit in my stomach everyday and I feel like the job is ultimately meaningless. I am also tired of working for the "Department of War" even in a very very small way.

But I have no idea where to go from here. I want to pivot to a new career, maybe one that my empathy will be a positive rather than a burden. Maybe nonprofit work, or environmental, or maybe just something that doesn't completely wreck me that I can be decent at.

So, I am curious what other empaths do for a living and if it works for them or if their empathy is a hindrance.

Thank you in advance.
