Relationship problem

So I have a crush on this guy and he at the moment also has a crush on me.
Context - a “Friend” of mine told him I liked him a couple weeks ago, and ever since then he has been interacting with me, whenever we are both looking at each other he smiles and waves at me and I do back.
The problem is…I want to hug him but i don’t know how to ask him and like it’ll be awkward because we are never really alone so that’s a problem and another problem is it’s JUST AWKWARD… help..?
