Republican and ex-Waco attorney Adam Hoffman (49), a lawyer in Waco, Texas, was facing a life sentence for the sexual abuse of a child that lasted three years. Attorney General Ken Paxton (republican nominee for the Texas Senate runoff), however, reduced the charges last week so that Hoffman will serve only 30 days in jail and will not be required to register as a sex offender.
In the end his sentance was changed to 60 days after a visiting judge doubled the rejected plea deal after 'expressing concerns.'
“So we are going from a first-degree felony to Class A misdemeanors with one day served? Seriously? Someone needs to sell me on this because I’ve got a big problem with only one day.”

The initial plea offered by Paxton's office would not have required Hoffman to serve additional jail time, but it was rejected by the judge.
“My son had no reason to lie. It flipped our lives upside down. It was devastating. But he was my hero. In my eyes he became a man that day. It set him free and it gave him a little bit of a smile back.”

The teens’ mother plans to give Hoffman a Bible at the April 27 formal sentencing. Embossed on the cover are the words, “Truth that set you free.” On the inside cover, her son wrote that he forgives Hoffman, telling his mother he wanted to write those words as a demonstration of their Christian faith.
