Is fieldwork really so lonely?

Hi guys!

PhD in poli sci, out on a 10-day fieldwork project to try and recruit interview participants and do some ethnography. I travelled alone (I'm doing my fieldwork in the country I grew up in, but my PhD is in the country I emigrated to 5 years ago), and it's just so LONELY. My best mate from uni came down for a couple of days, it's been 6 days and I'm just bored? I feel like I've exhausted all my leads and I don't know how to entertain myself til I can go home?
