I agree

It’s Plato’s cave. What we know is what we’re allowed to see in some sense.

I think the phenomenon (not just aliens, but “strangeness” in general) might be too loud and widespread to completely hide behind a manufacture projection like in the allegory mentioned above.

I think a lot of us have some sense of something being off, experience weirdness or see things that shouldn’t exist or are unexplainable.

I think in the past, it was easier to just lock someone up. Call them crazy, a heathen, cast them from society. Governments didn’t really have to do anything besides build that narrative. Strict religious practices made that easy. And communal pressure to fit in would prune the outliers. And even further back in time, information was strictly controlled.

I’d say that with the invention of the internet, and the communities that are able to exist here. That kind of self regulation no longer exists. So a new method of control is needed. That’s the disinformation element I’m talking about. They mix truth and lies together so even if you stumble upon something. It’ll always be conflated with the something that is easily disprovable or mocked.

I’m open to being disproven. I don’t hold strong on any opinion. I’m just always trying to be wary of bad actors in the space, especially politicians.
