200mg metronidazole for cat?

Kitten has giardia and has already gone through one round of panacur so we’re adding metronidazole this time around. Just looked at the bottle he sent home and its 50mg pills, 2 at a time, twice a day. my cat‘s a big boy (9-10lb), but only 8 mos old. Is 200mg/day a lot?
