The time my pittie turned a hater to a lover

Cuddle Pup

This is a fun story and I have never shared it to reddit before.

A few years back, I got a sitter off the Rover app for an overnight sit. She greeted me at the door and was a senior lady. We chatted a bit and then I left.

The next morning, I came to pick him up. I was even later than expected and she didnt care. She told me how much she enjoyed my dog, what he had done with her, and then she starts whispering, like she didnt want the neighbors to hear, "...but he kinda looks like... like a pitbull?"

I said, "Yes! He is from a shelter, but he looks like an American Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier (or whatever closest Rover app offered at that time). So, I marked him as that."

She had just saw the word 'Terrier' and decided he was a small terrier dog!!! She didnt say anything when I showed up with a 50lb dog!

So, we had a laugh at the word mix up. I commended her bravery for trusting my dog was safe after learning she had been raised with a fear of pitbulls. This was in Louisiana, where there are many stray pitties and overflowing shelters, and a huge breed discrimination issue, of course. Deep south.

And she did say at the end of our conversation, something like, "Wow, my whole life I was told these dogs are dangerous. But it turns out, these dogs are quite cuddly! I will watch him anytime."

One heart changed. I bet this Grammy told her whole family, too.
