Professional Competence Schemes

I'm a standalone who's starting a scheme in July. To be fully compliant with my conditions of registration, am I really supposed to sign up for another whole year of a PCS? It seems very inconvenient that the CPD 'year' starts in May and the training year starts in July, with a 60-day grace period.
