Boss Waza Craft Tuner too bright / light mods anyone?

I bought a Boss Waza Craft tuner and the blue LED lights are too bright. I have read that some folks modify this by removing the metal casing and placing clear red tape over the light bar in order to dim it down, then reassemble the pedal with red tape in place over the light bar. I'm not sure I want to perform surgery on the pedal, but I might.

Has anyone modified their pedal in any way to dim down the blue LED lights? If so, any photos or advice would be greatly appreciated!!
