Back from a 6+ months break and wanted to share my thoughts

Discussion

I’ve been playing fo76 almost daily for nearly 3 years. Around september last year I started to get really burned out. I would log on, do the dailies/weeklies, and log off since all my desire to play would leave after doing all those stupid mind-numbing pointless tasks. The game was starting to feel like a chore. Untill that moment, I had completed every single season. However, I was starting to dislike the season rewards more and more. All the nicer rewards were on pages 75+ and so I would push myself to get to those pages, even though the rest contained nothing I liked.

I decided that a long break was needed, so I haven’t touched fo76 in over 6 months. I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 during the meantime (100% recommend btw). This week I got the urge to play again.

It was such a weird experience to be taken aback by how bad the graphic quality actually is when compared to the newer game I had been playing almost daily for months. I actually thought I had my settings wrong, but nope, I had forgotten that trees and shrubs are 2d pixels sometimes.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a new area on the map. I immediately decided to discover it. Positive: I love the new night sky. Negative: I have started to notice how empty and lifeless the ‘lived in’ area’s feel. I think this is due to how npc’s are barely more than mannequins that can say a line or two. They don’t make an area feel ‘alive’.

I’ve also stopped grinding dailies and weeklies. This new scoreboard is even worse then the one that was on when I left. I feel no desire to grind it out to get the good stuff on the last two pages. I don’t think season scoreboards are worth all that effort and time anymore.

I do still love the community and I’ve also rediscovered my love for camp building. These are the things that will probably keep me playing for a while longer.
