Did the Ottoman Empire ever field plate armor?
My understanding is that what we consider plate armor - the iconic armor worn by knights which fully encase the body - was developed largely in response to the increasing power of firearms.
I also understand that during this same early firearm period, the Ottoman Empire was in regular conflict with europe and using their own firearms.
So did the Ottomans ever develop their own heavily armored cavalry in a tradition similar to that in Europe?
