Why did they make Michael asexual in the movie?

We know Michael was constantly rumored by the media to be gay, asexual, etc. I felt it was strange they didn’t show him interact with any woman other than his mother. We know MJ liked women, had female friends, women loved Michael. Yeah I know Diana stuff was cut but she wasn’t the only woman he found attractive. Even just showing him interacting with Ola Ray during Thriller rehearsal would’ve added more dimensions. Hell. Let him smile at a pretty woman lmao. This is another reason why I felt the film lacked depth although I really enjoyed it. The animals got more passion lol.
