Build/Battlestation

Hey y’all,

I’m hitting an interesting point in my custom pc building, and I could use some advice.

I currently have a ryzen 9 3900x on a crosshair 8 x570. I’m running 64gb of ram, 8tb of memory(3tb in m.2s, 2tb in sata, and a 3tb hdd for bulk), and a msi 4070 super. I also built in an Asus hyper with 3 cheap 1tb drives in it for practice/projects in IT, which I’m working on a degree for. All of this is in a cooler master trooper with a Corsair h115 cooler on the cpu.

I’m hitting a point now where I’m having issues running my hyper properly, as the crosshair 8 isn’t really designed to run x4 times 4 on the pcie slots. I’m thinking about upgrading, but I’m already at a point where I’m not sure where to go.

Prospectively, I’m going to get a Cooler Master Haf 700 Evo case (unless someone has a reason I shouldn’t) and I was thinking the next step would be to go the whole mile and start working on a actual work station (threadripper motherboard, cpu, ddr5 ram, etc.)

Does anyone have any insight/suggestions on whether this makes sense? I’m a bit rusty, I built this PC in 2020/2021 and have kind of stayed out of the market since. Am I potentially going TOO overboard?
