Gen 3 50w vs 50w EX - is speaker quality that different?

I've narrowed my choice down to these two models. Is the speaker in the EX a noticeable improvement to most people? Video reviews seem mixed. Would upgrading the speaker in a regular 50w (at some point in the future) put it past the quality of the EX as it comes if I eventually decided the speaker was lacking?
