[CA] Asking employer for a slight increase to relocation reimbursement benefit after I've already moved

Benefits

I recently accepted a new job offer requiring a coast-to-coast relocation. My new employer included a nice relocation package to cover approved expenses. The most expensive that I used were for breaking my lease, shipping my car, and shipping household items. There were a few smaller expenses like transportation, airfare, fees, junk removal, etc. that add an additional $1k.

The total cost for three large expenses alone exceeds the benefit by ~3.3k. If I include the additional expenses, the total cost was about $4.3k more than the relocation benefit amount.

Do you think it's acceptable/appropriate to ask my employer if they would consider increasing the benefit amount to cover the additional $3.3k? I'm appreciative of what they offered, but this would help a lot. I don't want to come off as demanding risk any issues with the offer.

Note: The relocation benefit wasn't included in the offer letter, I was just presented with a number in a separate document and there is no payback clause.
