Apple Accidentally Shipped Claude.md Files in Apple Support App v5.13 (Now Fixed in v5.13.1)
Apple devs had a bit of a whoops moment yesterday. The Apple Support app update to version 5.13 included internal Claude.md files, the kind of markdown docs devs use to give context and architecture instructions to Anthropic’s Claude AI coding assistant.
What was in the files?
- One detailed the Conversational Support system (Juno AI + live agents): actor-based providers, AsyncStream handling, multi-backend protocol (Juno AI, ChatKit, dev mocks), three participant roles (.client, .agent, .assistant), MessageGroup wrappers, Keychain + file cache for sessions, heavy conditional compilation, etc.
- The other covered the SAComponents Shared UI Component Library, pure UI rules, UIKit/SwiftUI patterns, presets, platform variants, etc.
Basically, these were project knowledge bases for Claude to help the team build consistent code.
After these files were quickly spotted, Apple pushed an emergency hotfix v5.13.1, removing them.
This confirms Apple is actively using Claude internally alongside their own Apple Intelligence/Juno efforts, which makes sense for productivity, but the packaging slip is pretty funny for the world’s most secretive company.
