Boyf argues out of accountability every time
I have been in abusive relationships before but with this relationship I feel extra like he just will argue out of anything. This example isn't like a huge deal I just absolutely know the pattern and I wanted to vent here. I'll come back and comment on how accurate I am lol
In therapy:
Him: your answer seems cowardly (I get up to leave bc that insult really struck me... I was in a really vulnerable state in therapy and he kept going talking about me... he said more but I got so flooded that now I don't recall)
Therapist: (as I'm leaving the room): whoa whoa whoa we just broke several rules here (I think reacting to words, tone, and his talking over/interrupting)
And then I was out the door. I took a walk, the session was over, and now he wants to talk about how the therapist misquoted him. I'm sure he's going to argue that he was totally justified based on some technicality ("I said 'seems' so I'm just sharing my own thoughts' '*i* wouldn't be offended' 'i said your ACTION not YOU' blah blah) all sorts of reasons that neither her nor I had any right to feel feelings about how he was communicating.
I know this isn't much compared to some of y'all's stories, but the way he insults me in low-key ways like this all the time is really damaging me I think. And if I try to tell him, it's my fault for assuming he's mean, for thinking he's an asshole, and then he's hurt and having "mental health problems" which he brings up when I try to tell him I'm hurt about something, or I'm not feeling heard...
Can anyone relate? I just feel really alone.
