Is it the tampons or me? Tranexamic Acid?
Ok so for context, I was on BC from age 21-29. Prior to BC I had somewhat irregular periods and some classic PCOS or endometriosis symptoms. I was put on BC for accutane and that fixed the period issues, so I never really investigated it further.
I recently had a major surgery and had to be off BC for over 3 months and decided to just stay off of it, do the tests, and try to fix my issues naturally and prepare to have kids at some point down the line. I was diagnosed with mild PCOS and take inositol which seems to help most of the obvious symptoms.
The one thing that has not improved at all though is the amount that I bleed. Days 2-3 are usually so bad it’s hard to even go places without bleeding through everything or worrying about that. Yesterday I bled through 2 S+ tampons, 2 panty liners, my underwear, and my pants in maybe 10 or 11hrs. Days 4-5 are usually much lighter like my body decides to just get it all out at once.
Is this normal and I should just be changing S+ tampons every 3-4hrs? Or do I need better tampons? I’ve heard others saying tampons are different nowadays and don’t work as well. My doctor has prescribed Tranexamic Acid but is that safe long term? Are there other ways to handle this? Please help so my periods look less like murder scenes.
