Question from a grateful patient

US

I was in the Cardiac ICU for a 1.5 weeks on ecmo and a ventilator, and in the progressive care unit for another half a week. I am so grateful to all the nurses who made my recovery possible and made me feel less alone. What made you want to go into nursing/the medical field/a career in care? What excited you most about your specialty? I am curious about what drew you to such a selfless career.

And whether you answer my questions or not. Thank you so much for all you do. Because I honestly dont think I could have made it through all I did without the nurses who took care of me. And I thank God every day not just for my life, but for every one of you that is commited to caring for others like me.
